Stitch N' Pitch is back for 2023! The Seattle Mariners will be holding it on Tuesday, September 12th - when they face the Los Angeles Angels (first pitch is at 6:40 PM). Even more exciting, this is Heading for the Playoffs Baseball! The Mariners have been hosting Stitch N' Pitch events since 2004 - the first team to do so!
As I type this, we are in FIRST PLACE, and games are selling out pretty quickly. Where can I get my ticket? I hear you asking. From our participating business members, of course! As of now, our business members selling tickets are Hazel Knits, Seattle Yarn, and Stranded by the Sea (check in now, as ticket availability is limited). There will be other participants, but please support our business members first. You may also purchase tickets directly from the Mariners (deadline- September 11th, 5 PM Pacific). Since I know you’re wondering, the other participants (so far) are: A Little Knitty, B Town Yarn, Firwood Farm Alpacas, Juni and Si, and Purly Shell Fiber Arts. They are still hoping for more vendors – I’ll keep you posted as I learn more. Tickets are available in the 300 for $20 and in the 100 level for $30 – a pretty good bargain. Did I mention that you get a t-shirt with your ticket? You do!
If you haven’t been to Stitch n Pitch before, it’s really fun. Organizations (including your Seattle Knitters Guild) will be set up on the 300 level, and shops will have yarn and related goodies for sale. After you have shopped and visited to your hearts content, you can sit and knit during the game – and not be the only one, as I usually am. It’s also fun to see the looks on the non-knitting baseball fans’ faces when they see us all out together.
Tip: We recommend also taking a look at the current T-Mobile Park bag policy and list of prohibited items not able to be brought into the park - double check and make sure your bag works! (From past experience this season, we recommend using just a clear gallon sized resealable bag; even smaller project bags may not make it past security!)
Travel to T-Mobile Park: While there are some parking lots and garages nearby, we recommend traveling to the park via public transit! Sound Transit Light Rail stops close by and also gives an opportunity to knit on the way - there's plenty of parking at Northgate Station for those that live in the north end, and Tukwila International Boulevard and Angle Lake Stations for those on the south end.
