Board and Officers
The Seattle Knitters Guild is a volunteer organization. Currently, the Guild has a Board of Officers consisting, with positions added or deleted as determined by a two-thirds majority of the Board.
Each Board position is held for a minimum of one year, with the term of office beginning January 1st and ending December 31st of the following year. Board members are expected to attend monthly Board meetings (on the Wednesday preceding the monthly meeting), attend Guild meetings (1st Wednesday of the month) and perform the duties of their positions. Descriptions of some of the offices are found in the by-laws.
There may be opportunities throughout the year for members to volunteer for short-term projects or other activities that may arise.
To volunteer or find out about volunteer opportunities, or if you have specific questions regarding Guild operations, please contact any of the Board members, or email [email protected].

President
[email protected] Kasteyl Lukes Kasteyl Lukes has called Seattle home for a little over a decade now. An accomplished knitter, weaver, dyer, and spinner; she has a passion for teaching and enabling others in their fiber art obsessions. By day she gets dye all over her hands (and sometimes yarn), by night she’s the SKG President, concocting all sorts of wild ideas to rope the rest of the Board and membership into. Her oldest WIP is seven years old, and someday she hopes to spin and knit a traditional wedding ring shawl. |
Vice President
[email protected] Jessica Whitmore Jessica Whitmore learned to knit when she was 10 years old. It took 10 years for knitting to become a regular part of her life, but now she always has a project close by. Her love for knitting evolved into a love for dyeing yarn and bringing people together through their shared love for the fiber arts. When she is not knitting or dyeing yarn, Jessica enjoys time with her family, gardening, and movies. |

I grew up and went to college in Massachusetts before moving to Seattle in 2020 for work. I learned to knit when I was 12, and only really picked it up again in college as a way to keep my hands busy in class. Another knitter in one of my classes suggested I try knitting some socks as a quicker win than the scarf I was working on, and the rest is history! More recently, I've taken up spinning and become a regular at my LYS knit night. When I'm not knitting, I love to bake, spend time with my senior kitty, and listen to records. |

[email protected] Kristen Smith Born and raised in the Puget Sound area, I started knitting again in 2014 (after, like I’m sure many of us, learning the basics in elementary school then not continuing). I joined SKG in 2016; in 2017, I moved to Tacoma, but continued to be involved in the guild since I work in Seattle (taking transit means so much knitting time!). I joined the board in August 2021 and look forward each month to learning more about our speakers - and what our members are working on - when updating content. On weekends I’m usually volunteering at my local indie movie theater - and knitting everywhere! |
